Evaluate in Direct Calculation Mode with Point Highlighting

As a tool to help find our low values we can use the Highlight Values command from the Calculations Toolkit.

  • Highlight two ranges, from 0 to 0.25 and from 0.26 to 0.49.
  • Assign colors to the ranges.
  • Be sure and select the “Background” option, this is easier to see, and finally check the box to enable the command.

The minimums we see are worth discussion. If we assume the points along the right side are in an area that will eventually be occupied by another tenant and lighted separately we can ignore. They are out of the statistical polygon anyway. Similarly, the points along the front of the building will be affected by supplemental lighting not considered. This leaves our lower left corner entry drive aisle. What to do?

Let’s assume we are hoping to contain light trespass and meet the Model Lighting Ordinance. We are then very concerned about light exiting the property. This would pretty much eliminate the possibility of adding supplementary lighting in this area. Much of it would be off the property. Most likely, we would go shopping for a different luminaire with different optics! Then start the layout process over again!
